The areas is a very shaded damp area (even in the hot July weather) mature large riparian white spruce / balsam poplar and trembling aspen and also Alnus incana, and Salix arbusculoides. The Saxifrages are growing right out of the sides of the stream bank overhanging the water. Other species notes on the immediate streambanks were: Viburnum edule, Rosa acicularis, Ribes hudsonianum, R. lacustre, Rubus ideaeus, Cornus stolonifera, Alnus crispa, Betula sp., Aquilegia brevistyla, Calamagrostis canadensis, Polygonum alaskanum, Galium boreale, Equisetum arvense, E. scirpoides, Mertensia paniculata, Anemone richardsonii, Achillea millefolium. A. sibirica, Geocaulon lividum, Valeriana capitata, Pyrola, sp. Linnaea borealis, Boschniakia rossica, Chrysosplenium tetrandrum, Aconitum delphinifolium and Parnassia palustris. Collected 30 m upstream of the mouth of Donahue Creek on the south side of the creek, near the confluence of the Yukon River. Donahue Creek flows into the Yukon River just downstream of Thistle Creek and 7.5 km up river of White River. UTM 575343E 6999871N. There were several other small tributaries to the Yukon River nearby that I did not look at. I did look at the mouths of Minneapolis Creek and Frisco Creek but did not see any Saxifraga spicata there. The plants were seen intermittenly upstream of the collections site but did not record the distance. Fewer than 100 plants were seen. Collected by Stu Withers & Grant Lortie. Was identified as Saxifraga spicata which is a synonym according to the Flora of North America Committee. Shown to be genetically similar to the plants from Sanpete, but different than Coal Creek and Spicata Creek. 2 duplicates (DAO).
