Small rock outcrops on gentle northeast slope, mesic to dry soil, with mats of Arctostaphylos and Juniperus communis, and low forb meadows. Flowers pale pink; stamens 26-28 in several flowers measured; hypanthium glabrous abaxially, tangled-pubescent adaxially; inflorescences flat-topped, pedicels glabrous; low shrub to 6 dm tall below rock outcrop.
