Oregon: Harney County: At the head of McCoy Creek; just west of the head of Kiger Creek; near the summit of the Steens Mountains, 80 miles southeast of Burns. Elev. 9000 ft.

Dry meadows, less often on gravelly west slopes. Not sharply distinct from 8698, P. ovina, which however has more dissected, greener leaves and is more common on gravelly or rocky slopes. Phenology: Flowers.
