Thickets at edge of meadow, with Rosa nutkana, Amelanchier alnifolia, Pseudotsuga menziesii, Quercus garryana, Pteridium. 6 meter tall tree, laden with fruit, leaves of shoots with some slight lobes; fruit apple-red to purplish-red, green away from sun, 24-29 x 20-27 mm wide, obling-elliptic; seeds brown, no white carpel lining; pedicels thin, 12-21 mm long; corymb rachis short and stout.
