Southern end of extensive hawthorn thickets along both sides of dirt road (Quilakwa Road), full sun, with Prunus virginiana, Symphoricarpos albus, Berberis, Amelanchier alnifolia, Crataegus chrysocarpa, Lomatium nudicaule. Shrubs or small trees 2--3 m tall, white flowers 7-19 mm diameter, 20 pale pink anthers, 4--5 styles, thorns 21--40 mm, leaves shiny dark green, see 5 shrubs at southern end. ¶Reference specimen for illustration in Revision of Flora of the Pacific Northwest WTU Herbarium, 2016. At southern end of extensive hawthorn thickets along both sides of dirt road (Quilakwa Road), full sun, with Prunus virginiana, Symphoricarpos albus, Berberis, Amelanchier alnifolia, Crataegus chrysocarpa. Shrubs or small trees 2.5 m tall, overripe fruit broadly ellipsoid to subglobose, blackish-red, 8--11 x 7.5--9.5 mm wide, 4--5 seeds, thorns 18--30 mm; 5 shrubs at southern end. Phenology: Fruits.
