Across river and slightly upstream from Humphreys Ranch, with Poa bulbosa, Artemisia tridentata, Lepidium perfoliatum, Elymus. In late fruit; leaves variable, some broad, double thorns present; flowering pedicels somewhat hairy; ten stamens; (4-) 5 pistils; very old tree, partially fallen in past; fruits dark red, spherical, some blackish and wrinkled; 5 (4) pyrenes; heavily attacked by Gymnosporangium fungus which gives fruit a "fringed" appearance. Duplicate determination as Crataegus castlegarensis by J.B. Phipps and O'Kennon on 29 September 2003. Phenology: Fruits.
