Adventive, bird-sown, 2 m tall, arching branches, leaves deciduous, thin, veins slightly impressed, 3-5.6 cm long; ripe fruit brilliant red to deep apple red, obovate or obconic, top nearly flat, 8-10 x 8-9 mm wide fresh; 2 (rarely 3) nutlets; sepals fleshy, incurved, hiding the 19-20 stamens; 1-3 fruits per inflorescence; mesic second-growth disturbed.
