Steep southwest slope over sandstone, dry soil, full sun; with Rhus glabra, Purshia tridentata, Chrysothamnus. 2 meter tall adventive shrub, old fruits red, petals white, spreading, claw hairy, 16 anthers, 2 styles, flowers 12-14 millimeters diameter, 3-12 flowers/inflorescence, leaves dull, not glaucous. Full sun, with brush and grass on dry steep SW slope, with Rhus glabra, Ulmus pumila, Dactylis. 2 m shrub, droopy branches from heavy load of fruit, leaves flat, dull, not shiny, fruit subglobose, slightly glaucous, slightly purplish-red, 10-13 x 11-13 mm wide, 2 styles, 1 broadly cylindrical seed, 14-17 anthers, 4-10 fr/infr. Phenology: Fruits.
