Roadside verge at treed margin near buried petroleum pipeline, at base of small Populus trichocarpa, with Rubus armeniacus. Arching-spreading ascending small tree ca. 5 m tall; leaves to 80 by 25 mm, loosely tomentose abaxially when young; inflorescence with up to 45 plus flowers, in flower bud; plant abundantly floriferous.

Below boulder dyke, on stable small boulder river shore, with Buddleja davidii, Alnus rubra, Fallopia x bohemica. Single plant 2 m tall, arching towards river, no evergreen leaves present; probably escaped from planted population 200 m away at the south end of the sports field complex.
