Moist sand along spring rill, the stream no longer running and area completely dry by midsummer. Plants many stemmed from and extensive branched, fibrous root system, fistulose, (3) 5-8 DM. tall; leaves rather fleshy; racemes usually compound, the flowers rahter spicate; pedicels usually shorter than spur; sepals clear blue to lilac, lanceolate, nearly equal, spreading but not all reflexed, rather all pointing forward, the tips greenish and somewhat cucullate; spur circa 2x the length of the upper sepal-blade; lower petals colored aabout as the sepals, cleft circa 1/3 lenght of blade; upper petals nearly white; plants viscid in the inflorescence stems fistulose; flant apparently very palatable, as it is compeletely eradicated inside fenced areas where grazed by cattle.
