Idaho: Idaho County: Ca 8 miles north of White Bird,on highway to Grangeville.
In dry soil. Plants readily pulling up by the fascicled, fleshy tuberous roots which are otherwise similar to those of D. nuttallianum; stems all finely glandular-puberulent; sepals deep purplish-blue, widespreading, the lower much larger than the upper and equal to the spur which is relatively short, yet considerably longer than the blade of the upper sepal; petals very large, deep purple, fpr theor lenght rather shallowly bilobed, the upper petals deep blue except the tip, purple-lined; follicles soon divarioate; this plant is deeper in color and larger-flowere, with larger broader lower sepals, than anything seen in Oregon or southward of this station in Idaho; it also has a slightly more extensive root system.
