Along highway. Several plants seen along highway about 1 km south of town; Anemone cylindrica is given from B.C. by Rydberg and B+B but not Anemone virginiana. Fruiting heads more than twice as long as wide but style divaricate; There is a specimen in Provincial Museum (#1861) collected by W.B. Anderson at Prince George 13 Aug 1937 and identified by J.K. Henry as this. I have so identified specimens collected by myself at Prince Geroge and Quesnel. From later collections made when fruit is fully developed it seems probably that the species in the region is Anemone cylindrica Gray. Also, Britton & Brown and Rydberg (F.R.M.) both ascribe the latter to B.C. but not Anemone virginiene.

In woodland. Only plant seen; eastern manuals have the western range of Anemone virginiana as only extending to Minnesota or North Dakota while Anemone cylindrica is credited to B.C. in B&B. I still think however this is closer to virginiana than to cylindrica. - John W. Eastham.
