Polypodium glycyrrhiza D.C. Eaton × Polypodium hesperium Maxon

Idaho: Clearwater County: Palouse Ranger District, Clearwater (St. Joe) National Forest. In a large draw flowing into the east side of Elk Creek, about 0.6 miles south of the mouth of Cloverleaf Creek, 5.8 air miles south of Elk River. Elev. 2200 ft.

Plants form a single large clump on a mossy rock in a streambed below dense Physocarpus capitatus. Site is a wet Thuja plicata riparian area in a forest of Abies grandis and Pseudotsuga menziesii. Slope 25%, aspect southwest. Associated species: Dodecatheon dentatum, Polystichum munitum, Rubus ursinus, Cinna latifolia, Carex amplifolia, Carex deweyana, Carex hendersonii, Osmorhiza chilensis, Asarum caudatum, Cornus stolonifera, Streptopus amplexifolius, Adiantum pedatum.
