On the face and top of steep breaklands composed of gravel encased in sandy and powdery soil. Steep slopes are sloughing, while tops are stable and dominated by many tall shrubs including Atriplex confertifolia, Artemisia sp., Tetradymia glabrata and others. Associated species include Castilleja angustifolia, Bromus tectorum, and Enceliopsis nudicaulis. Slope 0-80%; aspect, southwest. Plants are common. Phenology: Flowers.
