Reddish to black, hard packed basalt gravel. High quality lithosol area. Aspect 300 deg., slope 3%. Associated species: Artemisia tridentata, Salvia dorrii, Poa sandbergii, Bromus tectorum, Phacelia linearis. Flowers are bright yellow, the ovary is pubescent.¶Specimen used for illustration in Revision of Flora of the Pacific Northwest, WTU Herbarium, 2015. Phenology: Flowers.

Flowers are bright yellow, the ovary is pubescent. Plants still blooming late in the season. Phenology: Flowers.
