Clearcut Pinus contorta forest, flat and sandy, regenerating and grassy, with Poa pratensis, Populus tremuloides saplings, Achillea millefolium, Epilobium angustifolium. Spikelets mostly 2 per node; lemmas moderately hirsute; glume bodies circa 8 mm, mostly with 3-4 mm awns, variably to 10 mm; anthers 3.5 mm, apparently lacking pollen; blades slightly scabrous, to 11 mm wide; sterile hybrid - Elymus glaucus x Leymus innovatus; both parents frequent in the clearcut; the apparent hybrid noted at several sites in the clearing.
