Idaho: Idaho County: Clearwater National Forest: roadside pullout on southeast side of Highway 12 above bank of Lochsa River, ca 0.25 km northeast of mouth of Macaroni Creek and 23 air km northeast of Lowell. Elev. 546 m.

Dry, built-up, gravelly road bank with Sporobolus vaginiflorus, Aristida basiramea, Poa cf. secunda, Euphorbia maculata, Mollugo verticillata. Annuals, openly branched; inflorescences narrow; glumes both 1-veined, lower glume 6-7.5 mm, upper glume 10-12 mm; awns ascending to spreading, central awn 13-16 mm, spirally coiled 2-3 full turns at base upon drying, lateral awns 7-9 mm; locally common weed along road side.
