Oregon: Klamath County: Around forested "island" within and along margins of Big Meadow, via Cold Springs TH road 3651, west on forest road 3659, north on 080 spur to meadow, Klamath Ranger District, eastern Cascade Mountains, Fremont-Winema National Forest. Elev. 5650 ft.

Patchy distribution, generally in a narrow band above wet sedge/hairgrass community up to forested edge of meadow. Calyces pale white to yellowish-green; bracts mostly dull reddish-brown. Locally common. HOLOTYPE. Phenology: Flowers and Fruits. Holotype: Castilleja collegiorum J.M. Egger & S. Malaby.
