Montana: Beaverhead County: Vicinity of Bannack State Park, 4x4 trail ascending east side of southernmost summit of Badger Ridge South from unnamed road through Bureau of Land Management land connecting to main dirt road leaving east out of Bannack. About 1.9 miles east of Bannack (bearing 88 degrees). Elev. 6917 ft.

Somewhat disturbed, though infrequently used road margins and adjacent sagebrush scrub on hillsides near edge of Douglas-fir forest on east-facing slope. Common perennial herbs from weak taproots. Plants villous-glandular, upper leaves and bracts bright magenta to pale pink and crimson. More common on lower, flatter slopes. Silica gel-dried material is available upon request. Phenology: Flowers.
