Rocky knoll with Quercus garryana, Holodiscus discolor, Polypodium glycyrrhiza, Camassia quamash. Frequent escape from plantings, forming thickets in places and scattered in mossy rock gaps, mostly only 2-3 m tall and flowering; functionally male trees dominate, some hermaphrodite trees present in the wild and noted as street plantings in the area; fruit taken from hermaphrodite trees probably cross pollinated by males.
