The grass composition consists of Elymus sp., Danthonia, Melica sp.Plants growing on soils derived from UMF residuals and very common. Brett Hall and Anne Gilbert from UC Santa Cruz Arboretum were on this foray.

Exposure: north-slope in full sun to moderate shade; soil: clay-loam derived from ultramafic (serpentine) rock base. primary plant associates: Calocedrus decurrens, Festuca idahoensis, Pinus jeffreyi, Calochortus tolmiei, Allium bolanderi var. mirabile, Pinus ponderosa; secondary plant associates: Arbutus menziesii, Pseudotsuga menzensii, Umbellularia californica, Thododendron occidentale, Silene hookeri Locally abundant; very minute papilla on petal surface below gland; gland scale consisting of two traverse rows of dendritic trichomes (arising from membraneous scales); anthers: acuminate/ lanceolate. Stigma lobes strongly curved; capsules pendent; leaves w/ fine trichomes on midveins (ventral surface only); seed yellow. Phenology: flowering. Isotype: Calochortus coxii M.R. Godfrey & Callahan.

Plants abundant growing on soils derived from UMF substrates. Sheep grazing is noted and has a detrimental effect on the calochortus populations. Calochortus tolmiei is a common associate however it blooms earlier and is in capsule. Festuca idahoensis, Allium mirabile, Silene hookeri Pinus jeffreyi, Arbutus menziesii,Calochortus decurrens also on site.
