Naturalized, full sun, with Azolla filiculoides, Spirodela polyrhiza, Lemna turionifera, L. minuta, Hydrocotyle ranunculoides, Ludwigia palustris. Common floating aquatic, leaves to 9 mm thick, where rooted in shallow water, recurved pedicels bear oblanceoloid pale gray fruits with echinate seeds.
