Oregon: Jackson County: near Copper, on the Glady Crow property. See notes by FC: The completion of the Applegate Dam in 1980 resulted in the flooding of Copper under ca. 60' of water; this Garrya site was probably inundated. plants also located on Star Gulch road.
rocky outcrops in poor soils above the Applegate River. Bushy shrub to 8' tall by 4' broad, trunk to .5' basal diameter. See notes by FC: leaves with wavy margins, pubescent both surfaces, densely pubescent abaxially. G. buxifolia and G. congdonii seldom exceed 12', multi-trunked. G. fremontii and G. elliptica can reach 30' tall, trunks 20" diam, latter strictly coastal in Oregon.
