Open mounded prairie. Triphysaria, occasional, in dense patches. Flowers minute, maroon and white. Highly populated with foraging ants. Associates: Teesdalia nudicaulis, Camassia quamash, Hypochaeris radicata, Lomatium utriculatum, Poaceae spp. Phenology: Flowers.
