Oregon: Harney County: Sand Hills, north of Cottonwood-Fields Road. (see map)
on drift sand and stabilized dunes with Artemisia, Atriplex, Sarcobatus, rare Stephanomeria pauciflora sub-meter tall on site and quite rare, in bloom, fruiting period unknown. First report in Oregon. Known in northern Humboldt co. NV at the northernmost end of the Jackson Mtns, where also quite rare. Known as smokebush due to blue-gray color at a distance. Phenology: flowering.
