Idaho: Latah County: Margin of meadows of the Potlatch River, where it meets montane forest.

Growing in a small sphagnum bog. Associated species: Calamagrostis canadensis, Carex, Alnus, . Both Dryopteris cristata and Dryopteris carthusiana present in a mixed population with the hybrid. Pinnae held at an oblique angle to the stem. Fertile leaves both erect and declined. Locally common.

Growing in a small sphagnum bog. Associated species: Calamagrostis canadensis, Carex, Alnus. Perhaps this population was the source of the record in Idaho of D. intermedia, since this plant resembles that species.
