Sunny shallow water marsh, in 2-10 centimeters of water, with Typha, Carex retrorsa, C. utriculata, C. pachystachya, C. vulpinoidea, C. stipata, Eleocharis. Rhizomatous like C. utriculata, large spikes and perigynia color of C. retrorsa; achenes abortive; rare. Phenology: Fruits.
