Shallow ditch below highway 17, sandy gravelly soil with trash; growing with Phalaris arundinacea, Schedonorus arundinaceus. Patch of a few plants trailing 5 m long; fruit immature, yellow, 6 x 2.5 cm; calyx fused, 5-pointed; petals yellow with green ribs externally, crinkly margined and yellow with green tinge internally; leaves coarse, like a pumpkin, to 35 cm across; summer squash.
