Dry rock outcrops and pinnacles with shaded, vertical rock faces on their west and north sides, along a narrow subalpine ridgeline; rock is apparently a mix of basalt and metamorphic. Corolla blue-purple, broadly campanulate with spreading lobes; foliage scabrous, gray-green; stems in small clumps in crevices on shaded cliff faces around pinnacles; uncommon. Leaf tissue stored in silica. Phenology: Flowers.
