Pure white limestone gravel and cobbles, windswept ridge at limber pine krummholz, vegetation sparse and mostly mat-forming or very low growing, with Carex, Musineon, Ipomopsis, Erigeron, Phlox muscoides, Zigadenus elegens, Sedum lanceolatum, whitish yellow Castilleja, Dryas octopetala and Lidia obtusilobia. Locally abundant on southwest-facing slope of ridge. Phenology: Flowers. Type specimen (basionym and designation not recorded).
