Substrate calcareous. Loose scree slopes facing SE; little soil development. Alpine talus/scree community with Phacelia incana, Erysimum asperum, Penstemon montanus, Sitanion hystrix. In cracks on bedrock. Common, in fruit. Sticky note on specimen, which appears to be in same handwriting as Holmgren annotation, has the following information. Nevada holmgrenii. New genus for Idaho! Syn. Smelowskia holmgrenii, prev. known only from Nevada. Phenology: Fruits.
