Sand and gravel strand amid much driftwood; the two species (Cakile edentula ssp. edentula and C. maritima ssp. maritima) closely intermixed. Both species very large: often 3-4 feet across, 1-2 feet high, but often mashed down as if sat upon (by seals?) Mostly in flower and immature fruit, but some mature fruits on older plants; flowers white-purple. Infructescences short, fruits congested, leaves entire-lobed. Phenology: Flowers & Fruits.
