South-facing highway embankment slope, in mulch with Senecio vulgaris, weeds. Leaves clasping; stems variably hispid to glabrous below; petals yellow, to 10 mm; fruit with beaks to 14 mm; roots white, often swollen to 2 cm across, depending on the size of the first year plants; abundant and mostly in full bloom in a mild El Nino winter.
