Plants are common on the face and top of steep breaklands composed of gravel encased in sandy and powdery soil; steep slopes are sloughing, while tops are stable and dominated by many tall shrubs including Atriplex confertifolia, Artemisia sp., Tetradymia glabrata and others; associated species include Castilleja angustifolia, Bromus tectorum, and Eriogonum shockleyi packardae; slope 0-80%; southwest aspect. Phenology: Flowers.
