On limestone just above contact with white quartzite. Along cliff. Mixed Douglas fir, limber pine, subalpine fir forest. Associated with Valeriana, Castilleja miniata, Paxistima myrsinites, Poa wheeleri and columbine. Fruit not winged. Bractlets conspicuous. Endemic to Bear River and Wellsville. Phenology: Fruits.
