Open, flat meadow on ridgetop, surrounded by matrix of mixed conifer forest. Locally common perennial herbs from narrow taproots with irregular swellings. Plants strongly upright, foliage narrowly conical in profile (with narrow side at ground level). Fruits glabrous, held in upright clusters. Immature fruits green. Silica gel-dried material is available upon request. Phenology: Fruits. Holotype: Lomatium knokei M.E. Darrach. Published 2014. Darrach, M.E. 2014. Lomatium knokei (Apiaceae), a new, narrowly endemic species from Washington state. Phytoneuron 2014-108: 1–12.

Seasonally wet meadow in clearing of Pinus ponderosa and Pinus contorta forest. Veratrum common. Area apparently impacted by elk grazing. Yellow flowers, about 1 month ago, occasional with Juncus confusus, browsed by elk. Young plants with red tuber, older plants with carrot-shaped roots. Phenology: Fruits.
