PIEN & ABLA are dominant while TSME & PIAL are in the understory. The site is heterogeneous as there are slight changes in aspect. Sidehill left has thick cover of heather and exposed soils have been colonized by lichens and bryophytes. Moving to the right side, the heather drops out and more forbs and Luzula make up the ground cover but bryophytes are still present. The entire plot is rocky with cobbles, gravels and small boulders. Tree cover is redulced at the top edge and generally on the left side of the plot. There is evidence of fire and the trees are small, but it is ean xposed harsh site, possibly the TSME/PIAL regenerates are late seral species? Abundance code: 3; pycnidia, flat branches; Common in NW Pasayten Wilderness at base of Vaccinium stems. This sample collected along trail enroute to plot. Not found on plot. Substrate: Vaccinium stems + soil.
