Curious dense stand of suppressed PICO and ABLA2. Evidence of fire on old rotten logs; previous stand had much larger trees, but no snags or remnants--that generation is nearly decomposed. Forest floor very rich in partly rotted organic debris; a lot of Suillus, Clavaria, and other ecto-mycorrhizal fungi. Most drainage and highest epiphyte richness/abundance is downhill from plot center. Rich lichen diversity on trees and ground (esp. Cladonia), some trees with high lichen cover. Nearly all lichens were collected from ABLA2 because PICO branches too high, but lichen community seemed similar on both species. Most Melanelia collected from the bole of a single recently downed tree. Slope 13%. Aspect 293°. Abundance code: 1; Collected enroute to plot, halfway btwn lime quarry and McMurray Saddle. Substrate: Soil bank along footpath.
