Area is set up for a major timber harvest. Some of the plot trees (the largest ones...PIPO old-growth remnants) are marked for harvest while the scrappy young trees (3-12 dbh) are unmarked. Nonetheless, the ensuing tree execution will certainly influence the stand conditions, opening up even more of the discontinuous canopy! (One of trees to be taken is a plot center ref. PIPO). It looks like over half the stand has already been harvested heavily due to two large old slash piles and the thick clumps of young trees. Perhaps because of the shade afforded by some of these dense areas this plot has one of the more diverse lichen communities we've found in Chiloquin district. Slope 8%. Aspect 18°. Abundance code: 1. hardwood? Squarrose rhizines. Substrate: Hardwood.
