Washington: Pend Oreille County: Colville National Forest, Newport & Sullivan Lake Ranger Districts. Halliday Fen Trail, stop #2, rock outcrop. From Metaline Falls, WA drive N on Hwy 31 about 9 miles to the Halliday Fen Trailhead. Park at the trailhead and walk along the trail about 0.5 miles to the bald knob. Elev. 2800 ft.
UTM Zone 11, 477802E, 5419563N; NE 1/4 NE 1/4, T40N R44E WM, Sec. 31.
Habitat: open bald knob on exposed shale. ¶Aspect: NW. Slope: 10%. Light: full sun. ¶Associated Species: Physocarpus malvaceus, Heuchera cylindrical, Spirea betulifolia var. lucida, Arctostaphylos uva-ursi, Holosteum umbellatum, Hieracium scouleri, Sedum sp., Polytrichum sp., Achillea millefolium, Erigonum heracleoides, Lomatium triternatum. Substrate: rock outcrop. ¶Location Notes: Search just below the trail and above the trail in the shale crevices for the very tiny "worm-like" moss. The MYJU was on the edge of moss carpets. Widely scattered only on exposed rock. Substrate: saxicolous.
