Approximately 70 km SSW of Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve Headquarters. Access easiest via Crystal Ice Cave Road approximately 26 road miles from Aberdeen. Elev. 1500 m.

Substrate: Partially shaded xeric cool airflow lava.¶Habitat: Big sagebrush (Artemisia tridentata) dominated steppe with scattered junipers (Juniperus scopulorum). Soils heavy, luss.
