On rock outcrop in opening of mixed conifer and hardwood forest. Seasonally warm & dry. Upper slope, just below ridge crest next to forested draw., partially shaded, slope: 45%, aspect: 225?; small scattered patches on partially forested house sized rock outcrop just below ridgecrest. Normandina pulchella, Peltigera collina, Quercus chrysolepis, Whipplea modesta, Didymodon vinealis, Taxus brevifolia, Dendroalsia abietina, Arbutus menziesii, Berberis nervosa, Polystichum munitum, Orthotrichum rupestre, Leptogium albociliatum, Sedum, Selaginella Down slope from rd # 23-3-23.3. Abundance of Didymodon eckeliae uncertain because of its resemblance to common co-occurring D.vinealis. Thought to be relatively abundant across rock outcrop complex because 3 collections were D.eckeliae.,The extent and uniformity of habitat could support a relatively high amount.
