Dominant associated plants: Abies grandis, Picea engelmannii, Alnus viridis, Menziesia ferruginea, Gymnocarpium dryopteris, Athyrium filix-femina, Senecio triangularis, Tiarella trifoliata. On saturated soil and logs of creek banks and on small islands within creek channel, among other mosses and herbs. Rich silt loam. Color: olive-green. Growth Habit: irregular clumps to 2 feet diameter. Abundance: common. Substrate: terricolous. Phenology: sporophyte.
