Idaho: Blaine County: Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve 18 miles SW of Arco, Hwy 20/26.¶Snake River Watershed.¶Location: Sand Kipuka. Appr. 17 km ESE of the town Minidoka. Access though 4WD road and unofficial ATV trail beginning at lava edge 1.8 km west of Sand Kipuka. Elev. 1312 m.

Ass. sp.: Diploschistes diacapsis (Ach.) Lumbsch.¶Ass. sp.: Syntrichia ruralis (Hedwig) Weber & d. Mohr.¶Substrate: Partially shaded moist thin soil over lava rock.¶Habitat: Sagebrush steppe dominated kipuka enclosed within appr. 2250 year old lava flows. Artemisia tridentata with Chrysothamnus and Purshia interspersed with a few Juniperus scopulorum. Soils very sandy, terrestrial cryptogam flora poorly developed. Phenology: Unknown.
