Remarks: Verification Notes: Population stretches over 2 miles from lowest to upper most location. The upper Falls Creek fen complex is a remarkably robust, biodiverse and threatened set of local wetland ecosystems.

Washington: Okanogan County: Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, Methow Valley Ranger District, Upper Falls Creek. Drive north from Winthrop on county road 1213 to junction with FS 5140 (about 10 mi); drive west up 5140 to road's end. Hike upstream along Fall Creek horse trail for about 1 mi to reach first of the subpopulations. Elev. 5300 ft.

Habitat: Fens mostly along toeslopes of steep valley bottoms. Fens fed by very active, barely subsurface aquifers in layer of loose, coarse sand, gravel and rock underlying generally thin (6-12") peat. High microhabitat diversity and high biodiversity. Some relatively gentle gradient fen slopes on eastern side of upper west fork. ¶Associated Species: lichen/moss layer: AUPA70, BAFL5, BRPS70, CAST70, CAPO17, DIPA20, DRAD2, HEBL2, HYLI70/HYPR70. PHOF6, RHMA12, SAUN8, SPHAG2, SPSP70; herb layer: CABU6, CACA12, CAED, CAGY2, CAJO, CALE10, CALU7, CANI2, CASCB, ELQU2, ELEOC, ERIOP, JUEN, CABI2, EPILO, EQUAR, EQLA, LYCOP2, PIVU, PLATA2, SAFE, SETR, SPRO, TRGL5, UTMI, VERAT; shrub layer: CASSI3, DRFR6, KAMI, LEGL, PHYLL3, SALIX. Substrate: typically on thin (6-12") soppy peat in steep, toeslope, seepy fens. ¶Location Notes: super large; if I accept description as 1 population comprised of 4 proximate, drainage-related subpops., this is likely the largest TONI70 pop currently documented in WA/OR. Four subpops occur along the upper portion of creek: lower: 700362mE, 5403918mN to 700379mE, 5403852mN; middle: 700315mE, 5404985mN to 700301mE, 5404491 mN; lower east fork: 700525mE, 5405941mN to 700813mE, 5406436mN and lower west fork: 700351mE, 5406460mN to 699794mE, 5407083mN. Substrate: terricolous.
