Dry mid elevation ridge with short Abies lasiocarpa, Pinus contorta, and Picea englemannii. Vaccinium scopiarum, Sorbus sp., Chaimerion angustifolium, Eriogonum umbellatum, and Antenarria rosea. This is, to our knowledge the first physical documentation of this population of Larix lyallii. This population was documented by Arno (at least the Savage Mountain population a little to the east. However, he was doing surveys in the fall via airplane and (to our knowledge) did not collect specimens from this site. Reproductive state: Cones. Origin: Native.

Mixed Larix lyallii - Tsuga mertensiana - Abies lasicarpa forest. Understory dominated by Phyllodoce empetriformis and Luetkea pectinata. Very large Larix lyallii, about 4ft in diameter or larger. Supposedly this grove contains largest known member of this species. Tsuga mertensiana appears to be succeeding Larix lyallii. Reproductive state: Cones. Origin: Native.
